Experts session to commemorate World Hepatitis Day was held in the Isra University today in his brief talk the Vice Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ashraf Laghari said Hepatitis is silent killer disease but can be prevented by vaccination, treatment ,screening and awareness services at hospital and community level as 15 Million people are suffering from Hepatitis B and C in Pakistan. Isra University will increase screening and vaccination facilities for general public students and employees. And free hepatitis screening and vaccination camps will be held when corona pandemic is controlled. Dr Abdul Razzaque Umrani Deputy Director Hepatitis Control and prevention programme Government of Sindh mentioned that last year hepatitis screening and vaccination Camps were held in Isra successfully and programme will provide vaccine and screening kits to Isra Hospital this year He urged students that they and their families get vaccinated against hepatitis B for which vaccine is available in 37 centers of Sindh operational in Hyderabad and other major cities we have molecular lab in civil hospital Hyderabad where diagnostic PCR test is done free of cost .Hepatitis C has now effective treatment which cure this disease in three months times and all drugs are oral and easy to take . Prof Hussain Bux Kolachi chairperson community medicine said world hepatitis theme this year is Finding the Missing Millions in Pakistan only 14 percent population is aware from Hepatitis diseases and it is major cause of liver cirrhosis and cancer which can be prevented by screening tests and vaccination and proper dose of treatment. More awareness on line lectures will be held to provide update guidelines to Isra students and doctors so that patients are treated with latest therapeutics. Isra University students faculty have organized Hepatitis Day regularly every year through Radio and TV channels knowledge is shared on this great public health issue.
