World Robot Olympiad Orientation Session
Isra University, Hyderabad, proudly hosted an engaging and inspiring World Robot Olympiad (WRO) Orientation Session on Thursday, April 24, 2025, bringing together students, educators, and robotics enthusiasts from Hyderabad and surrounding regions. The event featured distinguished international guest speakers: Mr. Jonas Zaggata, Project Manager at World Robot Olympiad (WRO), Ms. Zartaj Ahmed, Advisory Council Member & National Organizer of WRO and Mr. Behroz Norani, Outreach Manager, WRO Pakistan. Mr. Zaggata specially flew in from Germany to attend and address the session.
The session was led by Dr. Ahmed Waliullah Kazi, Vice Chancellor of Isra University Hyderabad, who warmly welcomed the guests and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering innovation, technology, and student engagement through global platforms like the WRO. The orientation focused on creating awareness about opportunities for Pakistani students to participate in the upcoming WRO Nationals in Pakistan, the Asian Championship in Singapore, and the World Finals in the Philippines. The speakers emphasized the significance of early exposure to robotics and international collaboration in STEM education.
Students from renowned institutions—including Cadet College Petaro, Pak Turk Maarif International School & College Hyderabad, Sparks College Hyderabad, Public College Hyderabad, Foundation Public School, Piggot Memorial College Hyderabad, MUET Jamshoro, GC University Hyderabad, and Isra Foundation Schools Hyderabad—participated in the session, alongside a large number of students from Isra University.
The guest speakers expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Ahmed Waliullah Kazi for the warm welcome and the generous hospitality extended by Isra University. They encouraged students to pursue robotics with passion and determination, affirming that Pakistan holds immense potential to excel in international technology arenas. The session concluded on a high note, with students demonstrating great enthusiasm and interest in participating in future WRO competitions—setting the stage for a stronger and more visible Pakistani presence on the global robotics map.
In the closing ceremony, certificates to the organizers were awarded by Prof. Dr. Suhail Kazi, Dean, Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology and Prof. Dr. Syed Muhammad Fahim, Dean, Faculty of Business Education, Social Sciences and Humanities. On the occasion, Prof. Dr. Kamran Khuwaja, Director ORIC, Mr. Murad Memon, Director, QEC, Dr. Saad Baloch, Additional Director, Student Activities and Athletics, were also present.
