DESCRIPTION OF M. Phil AND Ph. D PROGRAMS IN BASIC MEDICAL SCIENCES
The M.Phil and Ph.D programs are offered in the fields of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, and Hematology. The goal of this program is to prepare future teachers and researchers with a background of higher learning. These professionals are trained in skills and techniques so that they can provide services in diagnostic laboratories and conduct research in the field of basic medical sciences.
The M.Phil coursework comprises of:
o Major in the disciplines of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, and Hematology and Oral Pathology
o [Courses of 20 credit hours in each discipline, compulsory requirement].
o Minor in any other than major disciplines.
o [Courses of 8 credit hours in a discipline, an interdisciplinary optional requirement].
o Research Methodology, Biostatistics and Pedagogy.
o [Courses of 06 credit hours, compulsory requirement for all disciplines].
o Synopsis 03 credit hours.
o Seminar and Journal Club 2 credit hours.
o Research component of 9 credit hours thesis.
Ph.D program comprises course work in a discipline of 18 credit hours and a thesis of 36 credit hours.
