Business Model Generation 2015-SEASON II

After the massive success of Season-I of Business Model Generation, Isra Center for Entrepreneurship took initiative of BMG Season-II. BMG was jointly conducted by Isra University and Ball State University USA. BMG was two days’ workshop conducted on 16th and 17th of September, 2015 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (both days) at Asadullah Kazi Auditorium, Isra University Hyderabad.
This time it was extended and organized at Provincial level, various students from different institutions enthusiastically participated in the workshop. There were total 45 participants from different institutes inclusive of NED University Karachi, Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, Punjab group of Colleges, Rockford College, ICAP and Isra University, Hyderabad.
The opening ceremony started at 9.00 am, the host of the event was Ms. Madiha Baloch with the recitation of Holy Quran by Mr. Zeeshan Laghari followed by National Anthem. After that our worthy Chief Guest, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Engineering and Management Sciences and Director of Center for Entrepreneurship, Isra University, Hyderabad Professor Dr. Hameedullah Kazi, addressed the students, participants & honorable faculty members. He emphasized on importance of social entrepreneurship, team work, self-reliance & also described the long vision of nurturing entrepreneurial culture in the region by different initiatives of Isra Entrepreneurship Center.
The whole session was conducted by the two outstanding Ball State University certified trainers i.e. Ms. Paras Bhatti, Deputy Director at Isra Center for Entrepreneurship, Patron- IES and Mr. Riaz Ahmed Shaikh, Manager at Isra Center for Entrepreneurship, Co-Patron- IES. Both of them trained and engaged the participants throughout the workshop brilliantly. One of the key features of BMG were the lectures regarding different stages of Business Modeling from Professors of Ball State University, USA i.e. Dr. Rajib Saniyal, Dr. Ray Montagno, Dr. Shaheen Borna, Dr. Susen Clark, Mr. Micheal Beer & Mr. Rob Mathews. The live Tweets on big screen during the workshop became creative and outstanding feature by hard work & support throughout the workshop by Mr. Ayub Laghari.
The event started with an introduction activity conducted by Mr. Riaz Ahmed Shaikh among participants in which they introduced themselves with the audience and were seated. Secondly groups were finalized. The six groups comprised of Inventors, Innovators, Visionaries, Creators, Intrapreneurs and Leaders.
The session was led by Ms. Paras Bhatti to give an overview about the workshop and the activities that will be performed in the two days. She familiarized participants with the five major heads covered in Business Modeling i.e. Canvas, Pattern, Design, Strategy and Process in an excellent way that developed eagerness to learn among all participants. Ms. Paras Bhatti delivered presentation on Canvas and gave a very informative briefing on how to build a canvas, which is the very core of starting a business. Furthermore, participants were asked to perform a brainstorming activity to make their canvas on the board within the given time for which the energetic participants came up with very creative business ideas. Pattern was covered by Mr. Riaz Ahmed Shaikh who explained the subject in detail followed by another interesting activity and the first day ended at 3.00 pm.
Second day with its full swing started with the Recitation of Holy Quran by Dr. Aijaz Khoso following National Anthem and Ms. Paras Bhatti headed towards the third topic of Design which was also a very interesting topic for participants and they actively participated and gave their own diversified ideas regarding designing. Next, Mr. Riaz Ahmed Shaikh continued with the fourth head of Business Modeling i.e. Strategy and described it very clearly to participants, during that he also delivered motivational lectures and stories which really energized these young learners and raised their confidence level. The session headed towards the very last topic of Process which is very important for modeling of a business. Mr. Abdul Wahid Narejo and other team members of IES engaged students in fun yet meaningful activities which were a source of inspiration for participants and took their great concentration and interest.
Lastly, the session completed by 3.00 pm and closing ceremony began after the arrival of worthy Chief Guest Pro-Vice Chancellor Engineering & Management Sciences, Director of Isra Center for Entrepreneurship, Professor Dr. Hameedullah Kazi, and honorable Chairperson Department of Management Sciences and Coordinator Isra- Ball State University Partnership Dr. Qamaruddin Mahar, and other respected faculty members. Mr. Riaz Ahmed Shaikh ended the day with his wise words and Dr. Qamaruddin Mahar was invited on stage for concluding remarks; he appreciated the efforts of Team- IES in making this workshop possible in such a short span of time, he also thanked all the guest students who came from other institutes and encouraged the active participation of all the students.
Shield of honor was presented to the honorable Chief Guest Professor Dr. Hameedullah Kazi, and Chairperson; Dr. Qamaruddin Mahar. Moreover, Ms. Paras Bhatti and, Mr. Riaz Ahmed Shaikh received Trainer Awards. Certificates of Business Model Generation-Season II distributed among all the participants and members of Team- IES along with a memorable group photograph. The closing ceremony ended with a group photograph.
